Data Validation Pack

This download is for the first Data Validation Pack for QuickHash-GUI. It has been developed to help users who use QuickHash-GUI in forensic science regulated work areas, such as law enforcement and government agencies. Whilst it is not designed or intended for users outside of that scope, all users may wish to use it, depending on their needs.

In brief, it is a small zip file containing a PDF document that describes the other files in the pack. Those other files are simply a text file with a single character in it, and a very small 10Mb forensic image to enable the users to check that QuickHash-GUI generates values properly in their given IT deployment. The document holds information about those files, most notably hash values for several of the primarily used algorithms, for the user to check.

It is provided due to the increasing necessity across the world for those people who are involved in digital forensics, or any judicial area that relies on digital evidence, to be accredited and regulated and for which QuickHash-GUI may form a part of those accredited and critical activities or workflows. In the UK, for example The Forensic Science Regulator oversees such activity, and the corresponding Codes of Practice detail what is expected of those who work in that arena.
